“Bridges of Hope” Dinner with Brian Propp
The “Bridges of Hope” fundraising dinner, held the evening of November 03 at TCU Place in Saskatoon, was a tremendous success.
Almost 300 people came to enjoy the delicious catered buffet. The silent auction offered an eclectic collection of items; everything sold. In the Live Auction, ably conducted by Bill Bishopp, the jersey went for $1525 and the Rey Dahlen print for $575. Others gave directly at the Donations Table. All told, we raised about $20,000 for our Lutheran hospital chaplaincy. Wonderful news!
Meanwhile, Brian Propp’s speech was wonderful. He had the crowd laughing and applauding; at various points during the evening, a long line formed at his signing table. After Board Chair Gord Martens welcomed us and Audrey Miller encouraged us to support this important ministry, Bishop Sid Haugen told a short story and said the table grace.
After we had eaten, the formal programme began with Dr. Daniel Glaske and Angela Propp Schmitt speaking (from the perspective of a physician and patient) about the value of spiritual care for healing of hospital patients. Just before Chaplain Ron Bestvater’s closing address, the Chamber Choir from LCBI High School sang three beautiful songs.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. What a splendid evening it was!
